Steven E. Thomas
Steven E. “Steve” Thomas, 65, passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at Saint Luke's/Faxton Hospital, Utica. Steve was born on November 16, 1957 in Racine, WI, the son of the late Freeman E. and Evelyn Lee Thomas. Steve attended area schools in Ashland, WI and was formerly married to Karen Bailey in Westernville.
He was employed at J. I. Case Tractor Company in Wisconsin, worked many other jobs throughout the years, moving to the Rome area as an independent contractor and enjoyed his remaining years in the Town of Westmoreland.
Steve was an avid fisherman who especially enjoyed caring for his home, nature, capturing backyard wildlife on live cams, woodworking, cooking, barbecuing, and gardening. He loved sitting around the fire-pit with family and friends.
Steve is survived by his close companion and life partner, Barbara J. Drake of Westmoreland; sons Justin Thomas of Westernville and Trevor Thomas of Ava, and grandchildren Alexandria, Jack, and Owen. He was predeceased by two elder sisters, Judy and Dawn.
Possessing a great sense of humor, wit, and a wise, generous, honest and positive nature, Steve is dearly loved and sadly missed by all who were close to him.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo St., Rome. Services will be private, there will be no calling hours.
