Sheila H. Semo

Sheila H. Semo, 81, of Rome, passed away peacefully, Monday, September 14, 2026, at Sunset Nursing and Rehab Center.
Sheila was born on February 10, 1945, the daughter of the late William and Ann Houser. She attended Rome schools and was a graduate of Rome Free Academy. On September 18, 1963 she was united in marriage to David Thomas Semo Sr., a blessed union of 62 years until his passing on January 29, 2026. Prior to retirement, Sheila was a Teacher’s Aide with the Rome City School System. She was a member of TWIG, the Wednesday Morning Club, Teugega Golf League and a parishioner of St. Peter’s Church. Sheila enjoyed knitting, skiing, golfing, arts and crafts and gardening. She loved being in her garden and, most of all, spending time with her grandchildren.
Sheila is survived by her children Susan and Larry Gamer, Amy and Kevin Castro, Elizabeth (Beth) and Richard Adler, David Thomas and Barbara Semo Jr.; grandchildren Sarah Semo, Steven and Haley Semo, Jordan and Patrick Keenehan, Lindsay Gamer and Ryan McNulty, Joseph Gamer, Madeline Castro, Anna Castro, Kevin Castro, Ian and Meagan Bell Adler, David and Samantha Adler, Nathan Adler, Apollo Adler; and great-grandchildren Spencer Lampman, Poppy Keenehan, Melody Lighton, and Elio Semo. She is also survived by sisters and brothers-in-law Suzanne Doolittle, Gretchen and Sam Truesdell, Sybil and Gary Preski; brothers and sisters-in-law William and Kathleen Houser, Timothy and Lori Houser, John Scott Houser.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2026 at 11am at St. Peter’s Church, 200 N. James St., Rome with Fr. Sean O’Brien, officiant. Visitation will be from 10am to 11am prior to the mass. Interment will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
