Robert Burns White, Jr. PGK

Robert Burns White, Jr. PGK , age 78, of Georgetown, Texas, died peacefully in his home on Monday, June 19, 2023 following a long illness. Born in Buffalo, NY, Robert was the son of Robert Burns White, Sr., and Eleanor Golden White. Robert graduated from Johnstown High School in Johnstown, NY where he met his wife, Mary Entelisano White. They were married for 59 years and together raised two daughters.

Robert was a man of strong faith and maintained a special devotion to the Blessed Mother. He was a long time member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Carrollton, Ohio. Robert was instrumental in getting the Knights of Columbus Council 15401 started, and he served for three years as Grand Knight. He retired to Texas where he was a member of the Santa Rosa De Lima Council 12522. At that time, he received his Fourth Degree from the Knights of Columbus.

His career was extraordinarily diverse beginning with a time of discernment in the seminary. He proceeded to enter the Navy where he was honorably discharged after a barracks fire caused a limiting condition. Inhalation therapist, police officer, and retail sales, including owning and operating White’s Jewelry for many years in Carrollton, OH were paths that he embraced to serve others over the years.

He had many passions including photography, whittling, barbeque grilling, and swimming. He was a caring father and devoted grandfather. He loved teaching his grandchildren to swim and greatly enjoyed attending their school and sports activities.

Living in Sun City, Robert had the benefit of companionship with the many friends acquired in his neighborhood and also while working as a monitor in the fitness center. He was involved with the Sun City theater group AGTAG, proudly assisting in the sound booth.

He was loved by many and will be deeply missed by his daughters Christine White Newell of Rome, NY and Elizabeth White Sweeney and her husband Dr. Scott Sweeney of Austin, TX; his beloved grandchildren, Marie Christine Newell, Megan Samantha Newell, Staff Sergeant Joseph Robert Newell, Samuel Hugh Sweeney, and Sarah Jane Ottilia Sweeney; his sister Sharon Sullivan and her husband James of Sparta, NJ and brother William White and his wife Yvonne of Hudson, OH; his numerous brothers and sisters in-law, nieces, and nephews. In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his sisters Anna Mary White and Marianne White Fixel, and his brother Richard White.

Visitation with Rosary will be at Santa Rosa de Lima Catholic Church located at 6671 FM 970, Florence, Texas 76527 on Monday, June 26, 2023 at 11:00 am. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:00 pm immediately following the Rosary. All are invited to join the family for a reception following Mass at Carr Hall.

There will be calling hours on Saturday, July 1, 2023 from 10 – 11 am at the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo St.Interment Service with Military Honors will follow at 11:30 am at Evergreen Cemetery Turin Road, with the Rev. Robert L. Kelly as Officiant.
