Richard J. Iodice

Richard J. Iodice, 80, of Rome, passed away on Monday, February 28, 2022, at SUNY Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse.

Richard was born in Rome on July 7, 1941, the son of the late Joseph F. Iodice and Teresa Serrani Iodice. He attended Rome schools and received an Associate’s Degree from MVCC. Richard proudly served in the United States Army from 1960-1962, receiving an Honorable Discharge. On July 7, 1962, he married Elizabeth (Betty) R. Bravo, a blessed union of 59 years. He was employed by the NYS DDSO as a Physical Therapy Assistant, later transitioning to Adaptive Services. He enjoyed gardening and golf, and was a member of St. John the Baptist Church.

Richard is survived by his wife Elizabeth; son and daughter-in-law Mark J. and Lisa Iodice; grandchildren Antonio (Kelly) Iodice, Stefano (Amanda) Iodice, and Elisabetta Iodice; great-grandchildren Angelina, Antonio, Alessia, and Lorenzo Iodice. He is survived by his sisters Nancy Kolasz, Donna Schebel and her significant other Howard Notheiger; sisters-in-law Michelina Bravo, Mary Sacco and Lois Bravo and his beloved puppy Simba. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is predeceased by his parents; his sibling Diane Iodice, and his son Anthony R. Iodice; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law William (Bill) Kolasz, Peter Bravo, Joseph Sacco, Joseph and June Bravo, and Louie Bravo.

Funeral services will be celebrated with a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at 1 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio as celebrant. Relatives and friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the Mass. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Richard’s name to St. John’s Endowment Fund.
