  Providence Rose “Tootsie” Rossi, 96, of Rome, passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2025. 

   Tootsie was born on July 6, 1929 in German Flats, the daughter of Joseph and Maria Strano Squadrito.  On May 25, 1949 she was united in marriage to Frank Anthony Rossi in St. John the Baptist Church; a blessed union of 46 years.  Tootsie worked at Rome Bargain Center and was also a waitress at Knotty Pine Diner.  She was a homemaker from the time she had children.

   Tootsie is survived by her children- her daughters and sons-in-law Darlena (Michael) Widrig and Michelle (David Anson) Morgan; son and daughter-in-law Emilio (Barbara Shewell) Rossi; grandchildren- Cindy Rossi (Robert) Robinson, Kara Lee Widrig, Lois Hollibaugh, Michael Widrig, Jeffrey (Sherri Palmer) Gran, Jesselyn Paige (Mark) Capponi, Brett (Samantha) Rossi-Armstrong, She is also survived by her great-grandchildren- Tyler Robinson, Hunter Robinson, Jacob Edwards, Thomas Hollibaugh, Nikolas Hollibaugh, Maxx Spencer, Raine Noreault, Nico Noreault, Valyn Noreault, Giovani Gran, Damon Capponi, Aleah Bri Capponi, Everleigh Alisa Capponi, Kiya and Trey O’Rourke.

    Tootsie is predeceased by her husband Frank; her parents; her sisters and brothers-in-law Grace and Angelo Gentile, Josephine and Alfonso Dote, Adeline and Natale Tallarino, Agatina “Ida” and Philip Carambia, Rosaria and Frank Perry; her brothers and sisters-in-law John and Loretta Squadrito, Freddie and Edith Squadrito, Paul and Vernie Squadrito, Ralph and Josephine Squadrito, and Charlie and Doris Squadrito.  She is also predeceased by her father and mother-in-law Emilio and Innocenza Rossi, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Servio Rossi(survived by his wife Antoinette “Nettie”), John (Margaret) Rossi, Sisto and Josephine “Pena” (Rossi) Martinelli, and Michael Rossi.  She is survived by many nieces and nephews.

   Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Internment will be in St. John’s Cemetery.
