Patricia “Patty” Froio, 91, lifelong resident of Rome, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 30, 2026 in the Rome Health Residential HCF with her loving family by her side.
She was born on April 6, 1935, in Rome, the daughter of the late Philip and Caroline (Cecchetti) Caponera. Patty was a graduate of Rome Free Academy, Class of ’53. On November 29, 1958, she was united in marriage to Joseph B. Froio, in St. John the Baptist Church, Rome. They shared a blessed union of sixty-seven years of love and happiness.
Patty was employed as a secretary for the federal government at Rome Labs until her retirement in 2003. In her early years, she worked for the Rome City School District as a teacher’s assistant.
Patty enjoyed spending time with her family. She attended all her children and grandchildren’s school events and honors. She was enormously proud of her family. Patty always made holidays and occasions special with her generosity and cooking; her specialty was her family favorite lasagna. She will be remembered for her love of Frank Sinatra, often singing and dancing to his music.
Patty leaves behind many lifelong friendships that were extremely near and dear to her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her kindness, generosity, unwavering love, joy, and laughter she brought to those around her.
Patty is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Joseph; her children Laura (Peter) Morris, Michael Froio and Lorayne Gallagher; her grandchildren Selina Gallagher, Anna (Connor) Butters and Richard (Victoria) Gallagher. She also leaves behind many special nieces, nephews, and cousins. Patty was predeceased by her parents, her twin sister Delcie Castro; her sister and brother-in-law Gina and Anthony Farnach; her sister Theresa Farino; her brother and sister-in-law Angelo and Virginia Caponera; mother-in-law and father-in-law Edith (Dellork) and Joseph Froio and her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Bernard and Lucille Froio.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 14, 2026, at St. John’s the Baptist Church of the Blessed Sacrament Parish, 210 E. Dominick Street, Rome. Family will receive family and friends starting at 10 a.m. until the time of the mass. Her internment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery in Rome.
