Michael Paul Widrig, 68, of Taberg passed away unexpectedly August 1, 2026 with his loving family by his side.
He was born September 20, 1957, in Rome, the son of the late Paul Widrig and Lois (Jones) Widrig and was educated in Vernon-Verona-Sherrill schools. On September 27, 1975, Mike married the love of his life Darlena Rossi in St. John the Baptist Church in Rome.
Prior to his retirement, Mike was a long time machinist at International Wire in Camden also holding employment with Harden Furniture, Bus Industries and as a truck driver for Pepsi at times in between. Michael found peace in the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter, being especially proud of his excellent skill with the bow and arrow. He was a member of the Camden Rod and Gun club and also participated in various bowling leagues for many years. Family was everything to Mike and while he would also be delivering some sort of sarcastic commentary the whole time, he could be counted on to always show up. The Widrig household took in many over the years, no questions asked, for this very reason. His family and many others will always remember the countless family vacations, Friday nights out for dinner, Saturday celebrations with the Widrig’s and Sunday afternoons with the Rossi’s that meant so much to all involved.
He is survived by his devoted wife Darlena and his children and their partners; Kara Widrig, Lois Hollibaugh (Trey) and Michael Widrig (Connie), his grandchildren that he was endlessly proud of and loved immensely; Raine, Nico and Valyn Noreault, Jacob Edwards (Lucy), Nikolas and Thomas Hollibaugh (Jayda), Trey and Kiya O'Rourke, Max and Zariah Spencer and Justin Addison. He is also survived by his brother Brian Widrig and wife Judy, step-sister Tracy Casler, step-brother Tim VanDresar, brother-in-law Emilio Rossi and wife Barbara, sister-in-law Michelle Morgan and husband David, special family friends Michael and Becky Brockman as well as many very loved nieces, nephews and cousins. Michael is pre-deceased by his father Paul Widrig, mother Lois (Jones) Widrig, step-mother Carrol Widrig, brother Craig Widrig, step-brother Thomas VanDresar and mother and father-in-law Frank and Tootsie Rossi.
Funeral services for Mike will be held 3pm Friday, August 7th, 2026 at the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo Street Rome with Fr. James Tormey. The family will receive visitors from 2 pm until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo Street, Rome.
