  Matthew David Renzi, 41, of Rome, passed away peacefully, December 25, 2025, at home with his loving wife by his side following a courageous battle with cancer. Matthew was a devoted husband, a loyal friend, and a steady, grounding presence to those who knew him, often referring to himself as a gentle giant.

   Matt was born on October 7, 1984, in Rome to Angelo J. Renzi, Sr. and the late, Janet Outwater Renzi. He was a graduate of Rome Free Academy. On  July 23, 2022, he married the love of his life Sarah Rose White. 

   Prior to his health issues, Matt owned and operated a production company utilizing his talent in graphic design. He also was a full time caregiver to his mother Janet prior to her death. In his free time, he enjoyed attending and watching WWE wrestling. Matt traveled all over New York, often bringing his brother Thomas, to attend wrestling shows and spend time with the wrestlers and fellow fans. He provided promotional artwork for 2CW shows and the wrestlers. He was also an avid sports fan, his two favorite teams were the NY Giants and NY Yankees.      

   One of Matt's favorite hobbies was taking care of his fish aquariums. He loved going to the fish store to pick up a new fish or plant to add to his collection. Matt loved anything related to the Star Wars franchise, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and his favorite movie was Masters of the Universe. He was a film buff and loved going to the movie theater with Sarah.

   Matt is survived by his wife, Sarah, his father, Angelo J. Renzi, Sr and his wife Carletta; his brothers, Angelo “AJ” Renzi, Jr. and his wife, Joann, Dustin and Thomas Jones; his sisters, Maria Jo Renzi and Coty Jones; his aunt, Brenda Outwater; his uncle, Eric Ringrose; and several nieces and nephews; He is also survived by his in laws Phil and Terri White, and his brother in law Ethan White

   He was predeceased by his mother Janet Outwater Renzi; his grandparents Joseph and Phoebe Renzi, Claude and Virgina Outwater, and his uncle Larry Ringrose.         

   Matt’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Monday, January 5, 2026, at Zion Episcopal Church, 140 W. Liberty Street. Internment will be made at the family’s convenience. Friends may call at the Church on Monday, January 5, 2026 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

   Matt was very appreciative of all the support provided to both him and Sarah during his journey with cancer. Contributions in Matt’s memory may be made to Connected Community Schools, 207 North James Street Rome NY 13440.

   Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo Street, Rome.
