Lucy R. (Gizzi) Fanelli
Lucy R. (Gizzi) Fanelli, 94, of Rome, passed away on Thursday, July 28, 2022 at Rome Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
Lucy was born in Rome on May 12, 1928, daughter of Eugenio and Maria Ceci Gizzi. On May 7, 1955 she married Paul A. Fanelli at St. John the Baptist Church, a blessed union of 66 years. Paul passed away January 29, 2022.
She was a graduate of Rome Free Academy and retired from Griffiss Air Force Base. Lucy liked to read, do puzzles, and cook. Lucy was a homebody and her whole life was her family and children.
Lucy is survived by her loving family; her two sons Salvatore and Anne Fanelli of Lee Center, and Paul and Heather Fanelli of Marlboro MA; her brother Geno and Maureen Gizzi of Rome; five grandchildren Ryan Fanelli of Norfolk VA, Mark Fanelli of Lee Center, Cameron, Nick, and Megan Fanelli of Marlboro MA; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, her parents and her brother Anthony Gizzi of Arlington VA.
Funeral Services will be celebrated at 11 am on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at St. John the Baptist Church, 210 E. Dominick St, for a Mass of Christian Burial with the Rev. Bernard Menard as celebrant. There will be no calling hours. The family will greet family and friends after the Mass. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Lucy’s name to St. John’s Memorial Fund.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo St.
