Judith L. Bottini
Judith L. Bottini (Judy), 67, of Utica, NY passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 21, 2022 at home. She was born on April 20, 1954 in Rochester, NY, the only daughter of the late Marian (Wardwell) and Robert E. Simpson. She graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1972. On October 11, 1980 she entered into marriage with Benard “Ben” Bottini. Together, they ran East Side Grocery on East Dominick Street in Rome, NY. A staple of the community, on any given day you could find adults and children from the neighborhood shopping for things like milk from Bottini’s Dairy, Slush Puppies, and their specialty hot olives. Even though she often joked she would run off with Paul McCartney if he ever called, Judy knew she never would. Ben and Judy enjoyed 23 beautiful years of marriage until his unexpected passing in 2003. Many people are never lucky enough to find one great love in their life but Judy managed to strike gold twice. After her Benny died, she met another great love, her special and devoted companion Louis Cozza. Judy loved a good meal and there were few who could cook one as good as Louis. They made each other happy for many years, going on trips, visiting with friends and family, and raising their puppy, Rambo. Louis sadly passed in 2015. Judy loved spending time with family and friends but especially loved spending time with her grandchildren when they were younger. She was so proud watching them grow into kind and thoughtful adults with families and careers of their own. They truly had the biggest pieces of her heart and she expressed that to anyone who would listen. Everyone who knew her knew she cheered for the Green Bay Packers and was a dog lover, ever devoted to her German Shepherds. She had a meaningful career working with special people with special needs. She loved reading, history, and was especially proud of her country. Judy loved a good joke, and her lovable smile and infectious laughter will forever be imprinted on the hearts of all who were lucky enough to know her. She loved her people unconditionally and not even one of them ever questioned what they meant to her. You just knew. They all just wish they had one more day to tell her what she meant to them. Judy is survived by dog Rambo, Paul McCartney, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard and Katherine Simpson of Camden, NY and Bruce and Patti Simpson of Tampa, FL, brother-in-law Richard and his wife Grace Bottini, sisters-in-law Virginia Miller, Lucille Bostwick, and Kathy Bottini, step-daughter Gina Parsons, step-son and daughter-in-law Benard A and Robin Bottini, Cleveland, OH, cherished grandchildren, Brian (Christina) Bottini, Michelle (Adam) Bogden, Chelsea Parsons, and Kari (Frank) Cosamano, great-granddaughter Cora Bottini, special friends Loretta and Dori, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews and others who knew they were special parts of her life. In addition to her parents, husband Benard, and companion Louis, Judy was predeceased by her best friend & cousin Susan Bowersox MacCormack, sister-in-law Gilda Verdgeline, and brother-in-law Anthony (Buzz) Bottini. There are no calling hours. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery. A celebration of life will take place at a future date. If you’d like to make a donation in memory of Judy, please consider the Rome Humane Society or an animal shelter special to you. The family would like to thank Bottini Funeral Home as well as Rambo’s good friend, James Duvall.
