Joseph W. Renzi

1951-2024

Joseph W. Renzi, 73, of 212 E. Bloomfield St. passed away at Rome Health on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 after a very long illness with his beloved family by his side.

Joe was born in Rome on May 23, 1951 and was a son of the late Joseph and Phoebe Renzi.  He graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1969 and became a member of the Laborers Union, Local 442.  On April 16, 1977, Joe married his devoted wife Polly, and in 1980 they were blessed with their son, Joseph, of whom he was exceedingly proud.

Joe was a strong, hardworking construction worker for Dominick Dan Alonzo, Inc. working on projects for the NY State Thruway Authority and on the Massachusetts Turnpike.  He was a very talented laborer who was able to master many of the trades.  After more than 30 years in construction, he laid down his tool belt to work as a dealer at the Turning Stone Casino until his retirement.

Joe loved sports!  He played mens’ softball in his younger days and was an avid bowler.  He loved watching his NY Yankees, Knicks, Giants, and Rangers with his son and brother.

Joe is survived by his loving wife Polly; son Joe, and granddaughters Julia Ann and Anna June, all of whom he loved with all his heart.  He is also survived by his brother Angelo and his wife Carletta; a special nephew Angelo (AJ), his wife Joanne and daughter Sophia, along with many extended family members.  Special thanks to dear friends: Bill DeCarolis and family, Bill Wilson and Kathy, and the doctors and nurses at Rome Health for their compassionate care.

There will be no calling hours. A mass will be celebrated 11:00am on Friday, September 20, 2024 at St. John the Baptist Church, 210 E. Dominick St., with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio as celebrant.  In honor of Joe, please consider making a donation to the American Lung Association.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo St.
