John K. Bassett, Sr.
John K. Bassett, Sr., 72, of Rome, passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2020 in the Rome Hospital with his loving family by his side.
He was born on December 9, 1947 in Oneida the son of Lynn and Agnes Kennedy Bassett. On October 23, 1971 in St. John the Baptist Church he married Grace Facciolo. a loving union of 48 years.
He was a graduate of RFA, class of 1966. He proudly served with the US Army and the 331st Reserve Unit. He worked as a machinist at Revere Copper and Brass until his retirement. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, motorcycling and playing poker.
John is survived by his beloved family, his wife Grace; three sons, John Bassett Jr., of Rome, Eric (Megan) Bassett of Ft. Mill, SC., and Nicholas (Pamela) Bassett of Rome; cherished grandchildren, Cameron M. Hurley, Riley and Gianna Bassett and Gage and Jace Bassett; maternal mother-in-law, Louise Facciolo; sister Emogene Haggerty; brother James Bassett; sisters-in-law, Palma (Murray) Vienneau and Antoinette (Rick) Mumpton; brothers-in-law, Nicholas (Carm) Facciolo and Gregory (Claudia) Facciolo. He was predeceased by a brother Lynn Bassett.
Funeral services will be celebrated on Friday, October 2nd at 1:00 p.m.in St. John the Baptist Church for a Mass of Christian Burial with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio as celebrant. Those attending the Mass must wear a mask.
There will be no calling hours.
