Gloria Uvanni

November 28, 2020

Gloria Giardino Uvanni peacefully passed away on November 28, 2020 at the Tapp Family Home in Mechanicsville, Virginia. Gloria was predeceased by her late husband Frank William Uvanni. She is survived by her loving children Lisa of Allendale, NJ and Frank and his wife Regina of Mechanicsville, VA. Gloria was the cherished Grandmother of Ashley, Elizabeth, Robbi and Frankie Uvanni, Cassandra Tannenbaum and Alexander and his wife Shawna Tannenbaum. She was the Great Grandmother of Trenten Tannenbaum.

Gloria grew up in Rome, NY, daughter of George and Rose Giardino. She lived on Columbus Avenue and Gloria had many fond memories of that neighborhood. Gloria had 6 sisters and one brother, Florence Lauri, Frances Spadafora, Carmella Basile, Lucy D’Amore, Christina Ray, Anna Ross and Carl Giardino all deceased, but leave behind her brother in law, Joseph Uvanni and numerous nieces and nephews all dear to Gloria.

Gloria was the “baby” of the family and the first to attend college and chose Buffalo State. Along the way she received her Masters degree in Education and became a lifetime teacher. It was easy to spot her room at Fort Stanwix, because it always had the best decorated bulletin board! There wasn’t a day that we can recall that our mom wasn’t teaching. The last four years have been filled with more ups than downs. We are very grateful to the people who have helped our mom, and we are very fortunate that her last few weeks were at the exclusive Tapp Family Home.

Gloria was passionate about many things which included church, family, reading, cooking, traveling, the theatre and anything Royal.

In 2008, Gloria made a two week pilgrimage to Israel with members of her church in Richmond. It was everything and more than she had hoped for.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 4, 2020 at 12 noon at the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo St., with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio. Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery.

Friends and family may call from 10 – 12 Friday morning at the funeral home.
