Eustachio D’Angelo, 83, of Rome passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2025 surrounded by his beloved family after a long illness.
Known as “Angelo” to his friends, he was born and raised in Tocco da Casauria, a small town in Italy’s Abruzzo region, where his parents, Lorenzo and Irma D’Angelo, ran a grocery store. He worked as a barber at Griffiss Air Force Base - a job he performed for 30+ years, ultimately managing the shop. The mild-mannered Angelo was a favorite barber of many United States Air Force officers and other enlisted men.
On August 25, 1968, he married Anna Rizio in Tocco da Casauria, and then returned to Rome where they raised two daughters and had a blessed union of 57 years; one filled with love, laughter, undying devotion, and lots of amazing home-cooked meals enjoyed by the family. They vacationed in the summer at beaches along the East coast, and his children cherish memories of regular visits to Hampton Beach in New Hampshire and Ocean City in Maryland, in particular. Angelo loved movies, music, and especially watching Italian soccer; but in his final years, nothing could take the place of his five grandchildren-Giovanni, Mia, Anna, Brooke and Cate, all of whom he adored.
Angelo is survived and will be greatly missed by his wife Anna; daughters and sons-in-law Irma and John Gualtieri of Rome, Caterina (Cathy) and Martin Kernan of Whitesboro; grandchildren Giovanni Gualtieri, Mia Gualtieri, Anna Kernan, Brooke Kernan and Cate Kernan; and his sister Nina Morizio of Huntington Beach, CA. He is predeceased by his parents and sister Tina DeBellis.
The family would like to thank all of the doctors and nurses in the Intensive Care unit of Rome Health who were wonderful and provided exceptional care.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at 11am at St. John the Baptist Church, 210 E. Dominick St., Rome. All are welcome to attend. The family will greet and meet guests at the conclusion of the mass. Burial will be private.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo St. You may view the obituary and send a message of sympathy online at: www.bottinifuneralhome.com .
