Donna Marie Mungari

Donna Marie Mungari, 71, of Rome, passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at the Abraham House of Rome after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born on June 27, 1949 in Rome, a daughter of Dominick and Salmina Pomento Mungari. Donna received a Bachelor of Music Degree from Mary Manse College in Toledo, Ohio and completed graduate study at Bowling Green State Unniversity and SUNY Utica and Rome. She started teaching at a Private School in Toledo, Ohio and ended her career with 32 years teaching at General William Floyd School in Stittville, NY.

She is survived by a sister Sally Ann Mungari of Rome. A special thank you to teaching buddies, Charlene and Scott; to cousins Nanette James, Patrick Pomento and the Polizzi family.

Donna loved playing classical music on her prized Grand Piano. She loved her horses, Sundance and M&M, and her special canine friend Zoey. She loved to cook and doing crossword puzzles. Donna was honored with a published children’s book “Merry Miss Mungari”.

A special thank you to Chemo nurses Laura, Kathryn, Megan, Diana and (PA) Windy and Dr. Samir Desai, Hospice nurse Melissa and staff at the Abraham House.

Funeral services will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 2nd at 1 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Church for a Mass of Christian Burial with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio as celebrant. Interment will be, in the spring, at St. John’s Cemetery.

There will be no calling hours. Masks and social distancing will be adhered to at the church.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo St.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Donna’s memory to the Abraham House, 1203 Kemble Street, Utica, NY 13501 or to B Sharp Musical Club, Arlene Iagnocco, 4996 Henderson St., Whitesboro, NY 13492.
