Dominick J. DiDone, Jr.
Dominick J. DiDone, Jr., 94, of Rome, passed away on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at the Siegenthaler Center Hospice and Palliative Care in New Hartford. Dominick passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side. Dominick was born on August 9, 1927 in Rome.
He was the son of Dominick Sr. and Ascenza DiMaggio DiDone. On June 2, 1951 he was united in marriage to Lena Calicchia, a blessed union of 68 years. Dom was educated in Rome schools. He retired from Griffiss Air Force Base in 1982 after 30 years of dedicated employment. Dominick proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was a WWII Veteran.
Dominick was a member of St. John the Baptist Church. In his younger years, Dom was an avid vegetable gardener, deer hunter, and fisherman. He was also a member of the Galliano and Toccolana Clubs.
Dominick is survived by his beloved family, his daughter (and care-giver) Diane (Jed) Jecen, of Whitesboro, his son Dick DiDone of Central Square, four cherished grandchildren, Deena (Peter) Barbagallo, of Manlius, Danielle (James) Rowlands of Baldwinsville, Scott Jecen of Liverpool, and Matthew (Cristina) DiDone of Clay. Dominick is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Aria Barbagallo (age 2) and Hunter Rowlands (9 months). He has one sister-in-law Selma Vinci of Binghamton.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at 11 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio as celebrant. Internment will be in St. John’s Cemetery with a Military Honor Guard.
Relatives and friends may call on Thursday, October 7, 2021 from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo Street.
