Carol J. Pettinelli, 80, of Rome, passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 in Wynn Hospital.
Carol was born on August 25, 1945 in Rome, the daughter of Louis and Josephine Trino Pettinelli. She was a graduate of Rome Free Academy and attended MVCC. No matter what she did, she always touched the lives of many people throughout her life. Whether it was at the places she worked-such as Canterbury Press or DFAS, or at the businesses she owned-such as Action Apparel or Sleepy Hollow Golf Course, she made an impact.
Carol was a cancer survivor and for the past 25 years, she had a profound effect on those fighting the same battle. For years, she organized the local Relay For Life and also sponsored and organized an annual golf tournament to raise money to fight cancer.
Carol was the heart of our family; always filling our lives with excitement through sports, special events, family reunions and more; in addition to making sure every holiday was full of fun, food, and laughter. She was always there for everyone, in good times and all others, listening with her heart. She cherished family and friends, especially her dearest friend Delores Washburn and her family.
She is survived by her brothers Anthony (Carol) Pettinelli of Rome and Donald Pettinelli of Florida; nephews and nieces. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings Patrick Pettinelli, Marie Veschusio, Delores Lyons, Louis Pettinelli, Eleanor Clements, and her nephew Anthony Veschusio.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at 11am at St. John the Baptist Church, 210 E. Dominick Street, Rome. Calling hours will be from 10am – 11am prior to the mass. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
The family requests contributions be made in Carol’s memory to the American Cancer Society.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo Street, Rome.
