   Bonifacio A. (Sonny) Viverito, 86 of Rome, passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2025, at Wynn Hospital, with his family by his side.

  Sonny was born in Rome on September 13, 1938, the son of James and Anna Rotolo Viverito.

He attended Rome schools and a1956 graduate of Rome Free Academy. He proudly served with the National Guard from 1956 – 1962. Sonny worked for the US Postal Service and was very proud to have worked his way up from a part-time employee to becoming a postmaster, retiring in 1992.

   He married the love of his life, Dawn Taylor, on September 12, 1959, in St. John the Baptist Church. Sonny enjoyed golfing, boating, winemaking and was a member of the Rome Rotary and the NRA.

   Sonny was an avid Yankees fan as well as a fan of the NY Giants. He was an accomplished singer, often singing at weddings, parties, and even class reunions. Sonny and Dawn loved to travel and lived a very full and rewarding life together sharing love, laughter, and adventure. They enjoyed wintering in Florida for many years. Family was most important to Sonny. He was a charismatic, kind and loving man who was a shining example of integrity, honesty, and generosity. He could make anyone laugh with his quick wit and sense of humor.

   Sonny is survived by his loving wife Dawn; his cherished daughter Kimberly Bottini, and his beloved grandson Alexander Sisti. He is also survived by his sister Joan Perez and his nephew David Perez as well as a special family friend Carolyn Dean. He is predeceased by his parents, his brother-in-law Frank Perez, and nephew James Perez.

  There will be no services or calling hours. The family will celebrate and honor his life

privately as per his wishes.

   Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo St.
