Paul Vincent Cianfrocco


Paul Vincent “Paulie” Cianfrocco, 75, of Scottsdale Arizona, passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2020 after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born October 19, 1944 in Rome, New York, the son of Peter Nazarino Cianfrocco Sr, and Jenny Colangelo Domagal. Paul was educated in Rome Schools.

Affectionately known to many as “Kong” for his black 1970’s Chevy Bel Air with “KONG” written in big white letters on both driver and passenger side. Paul spent the majority of his life as a self employed. In 1971 he opened Paul’s Subs, currently known as Cianfrocco Subs and Wings, then in 1973 sold it to his late cousin Richard Cianfrocco. In the 1970’s he was co-owner of P&L subs, manager of Guys and Dolls Pool Room in Utica NY. Also, during that time he owned and operated various submarine stores from Rome to Little Falls. In the 1980’s and 1990’s he owned C&C Odds and Ends Pawn Shop, also painting many homes in the Mohawk Valley. In the 2000’s he finished his working career with his son Vinny in Arizona, as a co-founder of Cianfrocco Home Services.

Some of his beloved times were at Cianfrocco family reunions, and their hunting camp in Norwich, NY, which was a family tradition every November. His phrases “all the laughs and songs”, “hail, hail the gang’s all here” were the highlights of the party. He was proud of his Italian heritage and started his roots in East Rome. He enjoyed fishing, Vernon Downs, Turning Stone Casino and Talking Stick Casino. He was a member of the Toccolana Club, St. Gregory’s Club and Dunmore Club in Dunmore, PA. He was the former President of the Rome American Little League, during its transition from Pinti field to Bell Rd. During his sickness, he enjoyed his Facebook politics with all his friends.

Paul is survived by his loving wife, who never left his side, Adriana Cianfrocco of Scottsdale, Arizona; daughters Jackie Cianfrocco of Plattsburgh NY, Frances Cianfrocco of Scottsdale AZ; his son and daughter in law, Paul and Renee Cianfrocco, Glen Falls NY: Vinny and Heather Cianfrocco, Scottsdale Arizona. grandchildren Daniel O’Hallaron, Kayleigh and Grayson Brooks, Carlo Cianfrocco and Lucca Cianfrocco; sister, Kathy Thomas; brothers and sisters-in-law Angelo and Judy, Peter and Patty, Lenny and his partner Brenda; sister-in-law Sandra Blasina and mother-in-law Edda Blasina, both of Raleigh, North Carolina. godchildren Gina Cianfrocco-Schillaci and Chase Donovan, Austin Texas, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his parents, father-in-law Frank Blasina, brother-in-law Richard “Whitey” Thomas and godfather Vinny “Bear” Spada.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Ironwood Cancer and Research Center, especially to Sara and Tara; his Hospice of the Valley nurse Cheryl; all family and friends who reached out and visited; his weekly calls with Dickie Cianfrocco and Poker Carro, and heartfelt thank you to his best friend Terry Donovan for multiple trips to visit him in his time of need for comfort.

Services will be held in Rome NY, at the St John The Baptist Church at a later date. Per Paul’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. Arrangements are by Horizon Funeral Home, Phoenix, Arizona, and Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo St., Rome, NY.
