Darrell Grandfield
Darrell Grandfield, 94, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 in St. Elizabeth’s Hospital.
He was born on January 8, 1926 in Brownstown, IL., the son of George and Ethel Lawson Grandfield. On August 12, 1978 he married Joy Beckwith, a blessed union of 41 years.
Darrell had worked for the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles as a supervisor and the former Sid Stockholm Ford as the Leasing Department manager. He proudly served in the US Marine Corp. during WW II and later with the US Air Force retiring in 1968.
His hobby was with horses, including riding them.
He was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Darrell is survived by his beloved family, his wife Joy; daughters, Cathy (Brian) Gripko of Verona, Cheryl (John) Palmer of Westmoreland and Margaret “Peggy” Shutter of Alpine, NY; sons Jerald (Elizabeth) Hayes of Canastota and James (Cathy) Hayes of NC; cherished grandchildren, Melissa Shutter, Matthew Shutter, Morgan (Nicole) Shutter and Robert (Monica) Gripko; great grandchildren, Aubree Shutter and Gage Shutter.
He was predeceased by a son, Mark Grandfield.
Funeral services, under the direction of the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo St., were private. There were no calling hours.
