Mary Petrucci


Mary Petrucci, 90, of Rome, passed away peacefully at home with her loving family by her side on Sunday, May 5, 2019.

She was born on October 21, 1928 in Rome the daughter of Anthony and Angeline (DeSalvo) Calandra. On July 26, 1952 in St. John the Baptist Church she married the love of her life Vincent D. Petrucci, a blessed union of 67 years. Together they raised five children.

Mary was a graduate of RFA, class of 1946 and State University of Albany in 1950 and held a Master’s Degree. She taught Spanish and English for many years at RFA, retiring in 1993. She enjoyed reading, sewing, cooking, traveling, gardening and shopping. Mary belonged to the Wednesday Morning Club, the American University Women and was an active alumni of her high school and college. She was a devout, lifelong Catholic and parishioner of St. John the Baptist Church. Her passion and joy was spending time with her whole family.

Mary is survived by her beloved family, her loving and devoted husband Vincent; daughters, Nancy (Rhett) Kristl, Jane (Fredric) Askham and Marie (Bill) Williams; a son Tony (Lee) Petrucci; a son-in-law, Anthony Evans and a sister, Angie Bartolotti. She is recently predeceased by her beautiful, loving oldest daughter, Elaine Evans who spent countless hours by her mother’s side and caring for her parents.

She also leaves her cherished grandchildren, Laura (Kevin) Hagan, Deeana (Andrew) Evans, Jenna (Michael) Evans, Jessica (Huy) Pham, Julia (Ben) McCalmont, Stephanie (Darren) Kauffman, Frederic (Meredith) Askham, Mary Askham, Tyler (Chloe) Williams and Trevor Williams and Justin Kristl and Rhett Kristl. She was also blessed with 11 gorgeous great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be celebrated on Friday at 10 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church for a Mass of Christian Burial with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may pay respects on Thursday from 3-6 p.m. at the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo St.

Contributions may be made in Mary’s memory to “The Rome Alliance for Education”(please note “Rome Schools Food Pantry”) or St. John the Baptist Church Memorial Fund.

Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
