Fred J. Riolo
Fred J. Riolo, 89, of Rome, passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2019 in the Bethany Gardens with his loving family by his side.
He was born in Rome on March 8, 1929 a son of Joseph and Concetta Magno Riolo. On May 28, 1952 he married Antoinette M. “Nettie” Schiro who passed away on January 19, 2014.He was a graduate of RFA. He served in the Army National Guard.
He had been a partner and owner of Riolo Body Shop. He later worked in the garden department at Home Base Center and as facility maintenance at a condo complex in Las Vegas, NV. He enjoyed dancing, doing home repairs and improvement projects, fishing, hunting and prospecting. He had belonged to the Italian American Club in Las Vegas.
Fred is survived by his beloved family, a daughter Sharon Sanford and her fiancée Simon J. Sacco; a son Rene Riolo, both of Rome; cherished grandchildren, Shane (Jennifer) Riolo, Michelle (Kari) Emig and Ashley (Jason) Sanford; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Carissa (Earl)
NovaLee, Noah, Lilly Antoinette, Akira, Kali and Kamren; great-great-grandson Carter; sisters, Angeline Guglielmo and Ann (John) Peconi; brothers, Orlando Riolo and John Riolo; a sister-in-law, Patricia Riolo. He was predeceased by his sisters, Isabel Kranbuhl, Josephine Squadrito, Mary Rose Sparace and Antoinette Faro; brothers, Armando, Joseph, William, Vincent, Nicholas, Frank and Lawrence Riolo.
The family would like to thank the staff at Bethany Gardens that took care of Fred for their compassion and care.
Fred was a loving and caring father. He glowed with smiles and joy at the sight of his grandchildren. We are glad our father came home from Las Vegas and was with us as we enjoyed our time with him.
Funeral services will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 16, at 11:00 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church for a Mass of Christian Burial with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio as celebrant.
Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 to 11:00 prior to the Mass.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo St.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Fred’s memory to the Ava Dorfman Seniors Center. Envelopes will be available at the church.
