Serafina Megna Conestabile
Serafina Megna Conestabile, 87, of Rome, passed away on Friday December 28, 2018 in the Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse, with her loving family by her side.
She was born on September 22, 1931 in Italy, the daughter of Giuseppe and Carmella DeFazio Megna. On October 4, 1959 in Italy she married Domenico Conestabile, a blessed union of 59 years. She worked as a seamstress for Joseph & Feiss, a clothing manufacture in Utica.
Her passion was sewing, cooking and baking for her family and friends. She was so blessed by her family and friends and especially her daily phone calls to her friend Adriana Rizzo in Florida. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church.
Serafina is survived by her beloved family, her husband Domenico; a daughter and son-in-law, Maria and Dale Ackerman of Rome; a son-and daughter-in-law, Anthony and Assunta “Sue” Conestabile of Rome; cherished grandchildren, Sarah Conestabile, Andrea (Joseph) Gilberti, Jacqueline Ackerman and her partner Phillip Arensman, Alex, Joseph and Mark Ackerman; great grandchildren, Ava, Leo and Alayah; a sister and brother in Italy; a sister-in-law, Antoinette Viscomi. She was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Ralph Viscomi, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, John and Romana Conestabile, Rocco and Jenny Conestabile; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Bettina and Antonio Aiello.
The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors of the surgical ICU unit at Suny Upstate Hospital for the care and compassion given to our mother and grandmother during her final days and a special thank you to her granddaughter Sarah Conestabile for being her caregiver.
Funeral services will be celebrated on Monday morning at 11:00 in St. John the Baptist Church for a Mass of Christian Burial with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio as celebrant. Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo St.
