Douglas A. "Joey" Sunderland

Douglas A. “Joey” Sunderland, 71, of Rome, passed away on October 12, 2018 in Upstate Medical Center.

He was born on June 14, 1947 in Port Leyden, the son of Douglas and Marcell Sunderland. He had worked for many years for the Mid York Library System.

He had an extensive collection of elephant models and enjoyed reading. Joey had a great love for cats and dogs.

Douglas is survived by a niece, Kelly and her husband Edwin Oakes of Rome; grandnephew Christopher Sexton and grandniece Erica Sexton; special friends, Elaine (Romano) Tekce and Murat Tekce, Nicholas and Pauline Romano, Dr. David Romano, and Brian and Linda Romano and their children Dominic, Michael and Isabella Romano.

Relatives and friends may call on Saturday, October 27, from 12 to 1 p.m. at the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo St.
