James J. Genovese

James J. Genovese, 72, of Marcy, passed away on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at the Abraham House, Utica.

He was born on April 28, 1946 in Rome a son of Salvatore and Rose Farino Genovese. On January 4, 1980 he married Elaine Merola, a loving union of 38 years. He was a graduate of RFA and attended MVCC. He worked for 27 years at Revere Copper and Brass, Inc. and later in the Elaine Genovese Insurance Agency with his wife for 22 years.

He was an avid sports fan enjoying the Cleveland Browns and the New York Yankees. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church.

James is survived by his beloved family, his wife Elaine; a daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Joseph Hammill of Marcy; sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Lisa DeSalvo of Rome, Mark DeSalvo of Marcy, James II and Nicole Genovese of Rome, Michael and Danielle Genovese of Toms River, NJ; cherished grandchildren, Richard DeSalvo, John Egresits, Giuliana, Michaela and Natalie Genovese; an aunt Antoinette Farino and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother Joseph Genovese and a sister Rosemary Latini.

The family would like to extend a special thank you for his care at Abraham House, Utica.

Funeral services will be celebrated on Monday morning, October 8th, at 11:00 at St. John the Baptist Church for a Mass of Christian Burial with Fr. Abe Esper as celebrant.

Relatives and friends may call at the church on Monday from 10-11 a.m. prior to the Mass.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo St.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in James’s memory to Abraham House, 1203 Kemble Street, Utica, NY 13501.
