Julia F. Strange
Julia F. Strange, 96, of Rome, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 3, 2018 with her loving family by her side.
She was born on January 31, 1922 in Canastota the daughter of Rosario and Angela Farfaglia Stagnitti. On May 22, 1943 in St. Agatha’s Church in Canastota she married Nick B. Strange who passed away on July 29, 2006.
Julia worked at many places; to name a few, Rome Manufacturing, Montgomery Ward, Goldberg’s, Nelsons, and as a supervisor in the laundry of the Rome State School. She also taught sewing at Strange’s Sewing Center run by her husband. She enjoyed many things; cooking, word books, knitting and singing (especially her favorite song Che La Luna). She also belonged to the Happy Hour Club, a group of ladies that met monthly to exchange recipes.. She was a devout Catholic and was a parishioner of St. John the Baptist Church.
Julia is survived by her beloved family, two daughters and sons-in-law, Mildred and Ronald Edick of Sherrill and Mary and Gary Fahey of Rome; two sons, Nick Strange of Oneida and Steven Strange of East Hartford, CT; cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren, Mark and Debbie Edick, Lori and Andrew Staats, Scott and Amanda Ehlinger, Kaitlin Fahey, Marisa Strange and Larry Johnsen, Christopher and Sarah Strange; great grandchildren, Emily Staats, Vincent Staats, Mathew Ehlinger, Halie Ehlinger and Hannah Strange; sisters, Sandra Grey and Gloria Reed and brothers, Carmen Stagnitti and Ross and Kathy Stagnitti; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Frank and Sally Strange and ex daughter-in-law Mercedes Oliva Garcia.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to the following friends; Anna Anania, Donna Angotti, Cheryl Uvanni, Kathy Chase, Doris Kelly, Linda Brooks, John and Helen Zourdos of Dippin Donuts, Maggie Khoury of Maggie’s Café., Justina and Janelle Gualandi and the staff in The Grand Nursing Home and Rome Memorial Hospital 2E.
Funeral services will be celebrated on Friday morning at 11:00 at St. John the Baptist Church for a Mass of Christian Burial with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio as celebrant. Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call on Friday morning from 10 to 11 at the Church.
