Madeline DiMaggio Retrosi
Madeline DiMaggio Retrosi, 93, of Rome, entered into rest on Sunday, January 28, 2018 in the Heritage Health Center, Utica.
A caring and giving person my sister was born on October 10, 1924 a daughter of Fernando and Mary DiBenedetto DiMaggio. On August 31, 1946 she married the love of her life, Anthony “Tony” Retrosi. He passed away on March 5, 2000. Together they shared a life of love and togetherness spending many years in California where they enjoyed the company of many close friends.
Madeline leaves a brother and sister-in-law, James and Connie DiMaggio and their three children Jay, Len and Kim; a special nephew Joseph DiMaggio who tended to her and Douglas and Laura Tardugno whose love and compassion went beyond words. She loved them all for their giving. She also leaves sisters-in-law, Anna DiMaggio and Kathryn Retrosi; a nephew Frank Retrosi, Jr. who donated a kidney which gave his uncle ten more years of life; a niece Karen Keller and niece and nephew Fred and Shelia DiMaggio.
She was predeceased by brothers and sisters-in-law, Fred and Flora DiMaggio, Louis and Mary DiMaggio and Vincent (Tilo) DiMaggio.
Madeline now joins her husband and their two canine children Tonette and Luv whose cremains are buried with Anthony.
Words cannot describe Madeline’s life here on earth other than she was loved and will be truly missed.
A special thank you to the staff at Terrace at Woodland in Rome and at Heritage Health Center in Utica for their care and love shown to Madeline during her stay there.
Private funeral services have been entrusted to the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo St. Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
