Rose Mary (Baptiste) Colasanti

Rose Mary (Baptiste) Colasanti, of Rome, passed away after a brief illness on Thursday, January 18, 2018 in the Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse with her loving husband and children by her side.

She was born in Rome on October 18, 1947, the daughter of Frederick and Grace (Summa) Baptiste. She was a 1965 graduate of Rome Free Academy. On September 30, 1968, she was united in marriage to Dominick L. Colasanti at St. John the Baptist Church, where she was a member until the time of her death

Rose was the owner of a few successful businesses throughout the years, including Rose’s Magic Comb in the 70’s & Popcorn Fantasy in the 80’s, but she is best known for her final business venture, Rose Mary’sCafe, from which she retired in 2005. It was there she made countless friendships that continued into her retirement.

Rose Mary is survived by her loving husband Dominick of nearly 50 years, three children & their spouses, Lori & Danny Frieden of Rome, Tiffany & Tony Giannicchi of Ellicottville, NY and Mark & Stacey (DiMarco) Colasanti of Rome; four grand-daughters, Julianna, Mia & Caramarie Giannicchi, and Olivia Colasanti; sister and brother-in-law, Sandra & Michael Corigliano of Colorado; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Louis & Alice (Dougherty) Colasanti of Rome; nephew, Mike Corigliano of Colorado; several beloved cousins, especially Joseph & Kathy Bernabe and Kathleen & Elaine Bernabe, and many special friends & neighbors.

Rose Mary is predeceased by her father and mother Frederick & Grace Baptiste; father & mother-in-law, Louis & Antoinette (Arcuri) Colasanti; sister, Joanne Seward; and many beloved aunts & uncles.

She would also want us to acknowledge a very dear family friend, Dr. Mark Crye, who comforted her & the family until the very end, as well as the doctors & nursing staff at Upstate Medical Center for their care & compassion.

Funeral services will be celebrated on Tuesday at 12:00 pm at St. John the Baptist Church for a Mass of Christian Burial with the Rev. Abe Asper as celebrant. Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call at the Church from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. prior to the Mass.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo St.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Rose Mary’s name may be made to St. Jude Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis , TN 38105. Envelopes will be available at the Church.
