William G. DeGroat
William G. DeGroat, 59, of Lee Center passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2017.
He was born in Oneida on December 29, 1957, a son of David Archer and Barbara Mae Youngs DeGroat. On July 4, 2015 in Lee Center he married Suzanne Smith.
He graduated from Rome Free Academy. He had worked as a truck driver for RB Humphreys, Rome Express, Conway and last for Fed-Ex. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and collecting coins and baseball cards. He also liked old trucks and cars.
William is survived by his beloved family, his wife Suzanne; daughters and sons-in-law, Darby and Matt Startley and Rebecca McCaulley and Larry Chmielewski, Jr.; a son and daughter-in-law, William Jr. and Erin DeGroat; grandchildren, Zane Startley and Tyler Startley; sisters and brother-in-law, Doreen and Robert Hadjikolev, Esther Pelton and Barbara Ducey; brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald and Louise Smith, Fred and Debbie Smith, Carrie Smith, George DeGroat and David DeGroat; in-laws, Robert and Janine Smith, Ann and Larry Moore, Charles Smith, Bruce Smith and Kristen Perfetti, Dale and Pam Davis, Mike Smith and Diane Riolo and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Richard Smith and Dean Smith.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 9th, at 11:00 a.m. at the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo St. with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio as celebrant.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday, December 9th from 9 to 11 a.m. prior to the service.
