Marie A. Laufer

Marie A. Laufer, 73, of Rome, passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at home with her husband by her side.

She was born on June 13, 1944 in Herkimer the daughter of Biagio and Mary Cancelino D’Ambrosio. On May 17, 1969 in St. Anthony’s Church, Herkimer, she married Anthony (Tony) Laufer, a blessed union of 48 years.

Marie was a graduate of Herkimer High School. She had worked as a secretary for the Schillaci Insurance Agency for twenty years. During her leisure time she enjoyed playing Bingo and Keno at the Casino.

Marie is survived by her beloved family, her husband Anthony; a son Kevin A. Laufer of Rome; grandchildren, Kariann and Chloe Laufer; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jacqueline and Peter Bianchi of Oswego, Phyllis and George Sylvester of Manchester, NH, Marylou and Paul Nichols of Voohesville and Frances and James Woods of Overland Park, KS; sisters-in-law, Genevieve (Frank) Combopiano of Rome and Josephine James of Rome; special friends Sandra Simpson, Holly Nicolaus and Tina DeRosa; several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses of the Rome Dialysis Center.

Funeral services will be celebrated on Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 in St. John the Baptist Church for a Mass of Christian Burial with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio as celebrant. Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call at the Church on Tuesday from 1:00 to 2:00 prior to the Mass.
