Paul Leonbruno
Paul Leonbruno, 88, of Rome, passed away on Monday, June 19, 2017 in the Grand Nursing Home.
He was born on February 1, 1929 in Whitehall, NY a son of Paolo and Anna Pageralla Leonbruno. On September 26, 1953 in St. John the Baptist Church he married Florence Vaccaro, a blessed union of 63 years. He attended school in Whitehall.
Paul was a proud veteran of the US Army during the Korean War. He retired after 40 years as a supervisor at Rome Strip Steel. He was a member of the VFW #2246. He enjoyed collecting coins, building doll houses and life with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church.
Paul is survived by his beloved family, his wife Florence; two daughters and sons-in-law, Ann Marie and John Benevento of Syracuse and Maria and Joel Middleby of Rome; cherished grandchildren and their spouses, Justin Benevento, John and Kristen Benevento, Elizabeth and Mark Keida, Paul Middleby, Briana and Derek Carman, Shane Middleby and Paola Benevento; great-grandchildren, Paolo, Giorgio and Zelie Benevento, Olivia Keida, Mason and Spencer Carman; a sister, Josephine Twyman; a brother and sister-in-law, John and Chet Leonbruno and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother, Dave Leonbruno and three sisters, Mary Gooley, Loretta French and Lucy Waters.
Funeral services will be celebrated on Saturday morning at 9:30 at St. John the Baptist Church for a Mass of Christian Burial with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio as celebrant. Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo St.
