Ronald E. Humphrey


Ronald E. Humphrey, 68, of Rome, passed away on Friday, May 19, 2017 in St. Elizabeth’s Hospital.

He was born on October 3, 1948 in Utica, a son of Allen and Rose Marie Ciaccia Humphrey. On September, 29, 1979, in Herkimer, he married Aira J. Cassidy, a blessed union of 37 years. He was a graduate of Oriskany High School and MVCC.

He was a proud member of the US Army from August 13, 1968 to August 12, 1970 as a SP4 E4 and served in Vietnam from June 16, 1969 to December 3, 1969. He was a member of the Henry P. Smith Post #24, American Legion.

Ronald had worked as a Civil Engineer at the Rome Lab at GAFB. He had worked at Revere Copper and Brass, Inc. and part time for York’s Liquors. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed gardening and all sports.

Ronald is survived by his beloved family, his wife Aira; a daughter and son-in-law, Shannon H. and David Todora of Lee Center; a cherished granddaughter, Isabella Todora; a sister, Linda Humphrey of Oriskany; a brother and sister-in-law, Allen and Kathy Humphrey; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Erin and Joseph White of Herkimer; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Brian and Diana Cassidy; two nephews, James Humphrey and Brennan White and a niece, Kelsey White. He was predeceased by his parents.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday morning at 11:00 at the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo St. with the Rev. Joseph Sestito officiating. Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call on Monday evening from 6 to 8 at the funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ronald’s name may be made to the Humane Society of Rome, Inc., P.O. Box 4572, Rome, NY 13442. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
