William J. Walker, Sr.
William J. Walker,Sr., 69, long time resident of Westernville, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, January 29, 2017 with his loving family by his side.
He was born on July 8, 1947 to James and Ruth Pankhurst Walker and attended Holland Patent schools. Bill was joined in marriage to Frances J. Gruby on February 22, 1969.
Bill will be missed by his wife Fran, his children, Tammy (Jamie) Pomichter of Cold Brook, Penny Jo W. Curless of South Kortright, William (Nan) Walker, Jr. of Taberg; grandchildren, Will, Jesse, Michael, Paul, Jimmy, Becca, Johnny, Sara, Michaela; nieces and nephews, brothers James of Westernville, David of New Hartford, Donny of Westernville; a sister Judy Slawson of Town of Western and of course his beloved best friend and companion, his dog Rocky. He was predeceased by his parents and a sister Ellen Murphy.
Bill retired in 1993 from service with the Westernville Highway Department after a long and distinguished career. He was always eager to help anyone who needed it. He loved nothing more than to tinker in his shop or, more recently, spend time with Fran at the Casino.
He will be missed by all of us who had the honor and privilege to know him.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 4 p.m. at the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo St. with the Rev. Robert Wollaber officiating.
Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m..
