Roy J. Merchant

Roy J. Merchant, 79, of Rome, passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 in St. Luke’s Hospital, New Hartford.

He was born on July 19, 1937 in Floyd the son of Alvin and Kathleen Hopkins Merchant. On September 4, 1961 he married Theresa Coonrod. She passed away in 2009.He attended Holland Patent schools. He was a plant foreman for DairyLee retiring in 1988. He enjoyed car shows and fishing.

Roy is survived by his beloved family, three daughters and sons-in-law, Robin and Francis DeLong of Rome, Patti and Scott Miller of FL and Tammy and Eric Clark of Rome; grandchildren, Bobby Jo (Pete) Viola, Darren (Penny) Zbiegien, James (Ammie) Miller, Alycia Duffield, Erin (Paul) Champman-Crook, Alyssa Miller, Alexis Miller and Olivia Clark; ten great-grandchildren, three brothers, Alvin Merchant, David Merchant and Bob Merchant; a sister, Lois Streiff and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Ernestine Merchant.

Funeral services will be private. There will be no calling hours.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo St.
