Helen M. Ceci Valvo
Helen M. Ceci Valvo, 83, of Rome, passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at home with her loving family by her side.
She was born in Rome on August 10, 1933 to Joseph and Elvira Tofani Ceci. On January 14, 1956 in St. John the Baptist Church she married Dr. Joseph A. Valvo who passed away on March 13, 1992. She was a graduate of RFA, class of 1951.
She had worked as a secretary at Griffiss Air Force Base and later for many years as the office manager in her husband’s medical practice. In 1986 she and her husband retired to Pinehurst, NC to enjoy leisure time and golfing. She returned to Rome following her husband’s death.
Helen was active in the Women’s Auxiliary of the American Society of Abdominal Surgeons for many years. She enjoyed golfing with her friends at Teugega Country Club and participated in many events there. More than anything else she loved cooking, baking and taking care of her family.
Helen is survived by her beloved family, a son Joseph A. Valvo, Jr and his long- time companion Kim McCue; five daughters and three sons-in-law, Diana Lyon, Patricia and Art Paulus, Carla and Mark Brement, Joelle and Jon Siegel and Trudy Covich and her long-time companion Billy Hinton; fifteen cherished grandchildren, Anthony Fulgieri, Joseph Fulgieri, Trudy Scutari, Troy Trificana, Christopher Brement, Scott Brement, Hannah Siegel, Zoe Siegel, Noah Siegel, Kim Foote, Emily Foote, Joseph Covich, Colton Covich, Alana Valvo and Samantha Valvo; eleven great-grandchildren (with one on the way); two brothers and four sisters-in-law, Louis and Carol Ceci, Angelo and Maggie Ceci, Jean Ceci and Mary Ann Valvo; and nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a son-in-law, Kenneth Lyon and three brothers, Alex, Vincent and Enrico Ceci.
Funeral services will be celebrated on Saturday morning at 10:00 in St. John the Baptist Church for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo St.
