Lucy Piccola
Lucy Piccola, 86, of Rome, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 12, 2016 in St. Elizabeth Hospital with her loving family by her side. She was born on March 31, 1930 in Tocco Casauria, Italy the daughter of Riccardo and Domenica Barone Sticca. On June 15, 1953 in Italy she married Vincent Piccola, a blessed union of 63 years. She attended schools in Italy. She was a master seamstress and worked for many years until her retirement with the once renowned Simpkins Clothing Store. Lucy was a devoted wife and mother and enjoyed making dinners for her family as she was an excellent cook. She also enjoyed gardening, sewing and listening to Italian Music. Lucy is survived by her beloved family, her husband Vincent; a son and daughter-in-law, Perry and Debbie Piccola of Rome; a cherished granddaughter Tracey Bowers of Rome; two sisters-in-law, Elena Sticca of Arizona and Candida Sticca of Rome and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son Richard "Rick" Piccola and two brothers, Emilio Sticca and Attilio Sticca. Funeral services will be celebrated on Wednesday morning at 11:00 in St. John the Baptist Church for a Mass of Christian Burial with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio as celebrant. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Church on Wednesday morning from 10:00 to 11:00. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo St.
