Louis J. Posselt
Louis J. Posselt, 87, of Rome, passed away on Friday, April 29, 2016 in St. Luke's Hospital.
He was born on November 29, 1928 in Brooklyn, NY the son of John and Irene Stevens Posselt. On July 8, 1966 he married Maryellen "Della" Delahunt in Brooklyn, NY a blessed union of 50 years. He graduated from Boys High School in Brooklyn and took miscellaneous courses at MVCC.
Louis first worked at IX Miller Shoe Patterns, then was an inspector for the Bendix Corp., maintenance supervisor for Oneida County and started Lou's Cleaning Service. He enjoyed traveling, especially to Las Vegas, all Syracuse University sports, going to the Casino and the St. Lawrence River and especially being with his family.
Louis is survived by his beloved family, his wife Maryellen; a son Lawrence J. Posselt and his significant other Michele Grifasi all of Rome; a granddaughter Isabella Posselt and two special children that were like his own grandchildren, Kaleigh and Cameron Kenealy; in-laws, Tom and Betty Delahunt of FL., Annette Delahunt of Whitesboro and Judy Covert of Binghamton. He was predeceased by a sister Stephanie Snyder and a brother Robert Snyder.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Wiley Hall at the Masonic Community, St. Luke's Hospital PCU unit staff and Dr. Emile Wassel.
A very special thank you to Ray and Sharon Bouton, Dan and Jody O'Connell and especially William "Bill" and Gail Reese for their unending and unconditional care to Lou and Della through many, many years. You have all held a very special place in his heart; he was truly blessed to have friends and neighbors like you.
Funeral services will be celebrated on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. in St. John the Baptist Church for a Mass of Christian Burial with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio as celebrant. Private interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo St.
