Anthony "Tony" Frank Hubalek
Anthony "Tony" Frank Hubalek, 98, of Rome, passed away on Friday, April 15, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on October 22, 1917 in Utica the son of August and Anna Bernadic Hubalek. On August 30, 1942 he married Jeanne Talbot who passed away on February 2, 2015. Together they shared a blessed union of 73 years.
Tony was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses North Rome Congregation. He and his wife were foster parents in Herkimer County for 53 years. Tony served in the US Army during WW II and loved sharing his stories of his time exploring other countries. Upon returning to civilian life he was employed by Newport Creamery until their closing and then by F.E. Hale Manufacturing until his retirement. He was also a skilled craftsman of many trades.
Tony is survived by his beloved family, five daughters, Carol Palombo of Rome, June (Ron) Yelle of Bristol, TN, Joan (David) O'Brien of Mohawk, Caren (Frank) Forte of Middleville and Antonia Hubalek of Rome; one son, Daniel (Tracy) Hubalek of Clinton; a sister Betty Frank of Mohawk; twelve grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews whom he cherished very much. He was predeceased by an infant son Anthony, Jr., two sisters, Libby Kocyla and Anna Bolen; a brother August Hubalek and a grandson Justin Yelle.
The family would like to extend a thank you to Hospice and Palliative Care and his nurse Lisa Alteri for their compassionate care of Tony.
Memorial services will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 585 Trenton Road, Utica at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, with Joseph Gunther officiating.
Funeral services have been entrusted to the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo St. Rome.
