Dr. Ralph E. Tardugno

Dr. Ralph E. Tardugno, 91, of Rome, passed away peacefully at home, on Thursday, January 21, 2016 with his loving family by his side.

He was born on January 3, 1925 in Rome the son of Michael and Maria Consilio Tardugno. On January 16, 1954 in St. John the Baptist Church he married Arlinda Filippini, a blessed union of 62 years.

Ralph was a graduate of RFA, Niagara University and Georgetown University where he graduated as Cum Laude. He was a Professor Emeritus at Loyola University School of Dentistry. He was a dentist in Rome beginning practice in 1952; and later joined by his sons who continue in practice today.

He proudly served with the US Army from 1943 to 1946 during WW II in the Medical Corp. He served in the European Theater. Ralph was an avid golfer and traveler. He was a past member of the US Draft Board, Teugega Country Club, VFW and the American Legion. He is a member of St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church in Utica.

Ralph is survived by his beloved family, his wife Arlinda; sons, Michael (Selina) Tardugno of Rome, Dr. Ralph Tardugno of CA, Dr. Mark (Jill) Tardugno, Dr. Douglas (Laura) Tardugno, Scott Tardugno, Dr. Lance (Harmony) Tardugno and Darryl (Alana) Tardugno all of Rome; eighteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; sisters, Bernice Salce and Josephine Vicenzi; a sister-in-law, Delores Tardugno; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two brothers and a sister-inlaw, Frank (Santina) Tardugno and Carl Tardugno; a sister Carmella Fruin and two brothers-in-law, Paul Salce and Edward Vicenzi.

Dr. Ralph left behind a large extended family and great friends. His family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Antonino DiMarco.

A private Tridentine Funeral Mass will be held at St. Thomas More Chapel in Utica. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo St.
