Walter R. Bjorkman, 67, of Rome, passed away on October 8, 2015 in the Rome Memorial Hospital.

He was born on February 17, 1948 in Brooklyn, NY the son of Axel and Clara Bjoursund Bjorkman, He had moved to Rome to live with his brother Allan Bjorkman.

Over the years, Walter was an important force in the writing community to which he lent tremendous support. He was one of the editors for the 52/250 Project, an initiative that made a huge impact on the lives of many writers and artists and brought the community together. As a former editor and designer for Thrush Poetry and managing editor for A-Minor-Press, he helped launch and promote the work of many fine writers. He was a compassionate friend to those of us who've shared our thoughts and work with him; Walter was, quite simply, a man who made a difference in our lives.

Funeral services were private.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo St.
