Anthony F. Pelerossi

Anthony F. "Stonewall" Pelerossi, 91, of Rome, passed away on Thursday, August 27, 2015 in St. Elizabeth's Hospital.

Tony was born on April 9, 1924 in Rome a son of Salvatore and Vincenza Fiorenza Pelerossi. On July 3, 1954 in Washington, DC he married Anna Marie Ochranek who passed away on February 3, 1977.

He was a graduate of RFA, class of 1942 and Catholic University of America in Washington, DC in 1950 majoring in Physics. He was an outstanding athlete, scholar and musician. He proudly served in the US Army during WW II, 96th Infantry and was wounded twice receiving two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church.

Tony is survived by his beloved family, two daughters and a son-in-law, Dr. Janet Pelerossi of Dedham, MA and Carol Pelerossi and Anthony Nimon of Utica; three sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Mark and Felicia Pelerossi of Brentwood, TN, Anthony and Melanie Pelerossi of Rome and Ken and Susan Pelerossi of Rome; cherished grandchildren, Sophia, Nico, Christopher and spouse Nicole, Joseph, Amy Michelle, Matthew, Stacy, Alexandra, Ellen, Jacob and Joshua; a long time and loving companion Peggy Gehrig and a brother and sister-in-law, John and Linda Pelerossi of FL. He was predeceased by a sister Angeline Pelerossi.

Funeral services will be celebrated on Saturday morning at 9:00 at St. John the Baptist Church for a Mass of Christian Burial with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio as celebrant. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery.

The family will receive relatives and friends in the Church on Saturday from 8:15 to 9:00 a.m. prior to the Mass.
