Reigo "Sonny" Martingano

Reigo "Sonny" Martingano, 79, of Rome, passed away on Friday, July 31, 2015 with his loving family by his side.

He was born on November 20, 1935 in Rome, the son of Reigo and Anna Pimpinella Martingano. On September 21, 1957 in St. Peters Church he married Helen who passed away on July 17, 2014.

Sonny was a graduate of RFA, class of 1953. He then worked for Herb Philipson's Stores for 47 years until his retirement in 1999. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.

Reigo is survived by his beloved family, a daughter and son-in-law, Anne and Rob Miller of Blue Bell PA.; two sons and a daughter-in-law, John Martingano of Rome and James and Kelly Martingano of Marcy; cherished grandchildren, Matthew and Jillian Martingano of Albany and Emily Martingano; a great-granddaughter Hannah Martingano; a niece Alison Grenfell and a nephew John Kerstetter. Sonny also leaves behind his many lifelong friends in Rome as well as numerous friends at his hunting camp in Morris, NY. He was predeceased by a sister and brother-in-law Carol and John Kerstetter.

Funeral services will be celebrated on Tuesday morning at 11:00 in St. John the Baptist Church for a Mass of Christian Burial with the Rev. Joseph Sestito as celebrant. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may greet the family prior to the Mass at the Church from 10:15 to 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Sonny's memory to St. John the Baptist Church Memorial Fund or a charity of your choice. Envelopes will be available at the Church.
