Josephine A. Grasso

Josephine A. Grasso, 96, of Rome and Canastota, passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2015 with her loving family by her side.

She was born on February 13, 1919 in Canastota, a daughter of Guiseppe and Santa Selvester Sgarlata. On December 21, 1946 she married Dominick G. Grasso who passed away on February 25, 1983. She attended Canastota Schools.

She had worked as an aide for CNYDDSO retiring in 1980. She was a member of the Rome Hospital Twigs. She attended St. John the Baptist Church.

Josephine is survived by her beloved family, sons Frank and Florence Grasso of FL and Dominick F Grasso and his fiancé MaryAnne Skinner of Canastota; cherished grandchildren and their spouses, Dominick M. Grasso, Sara and Mario Lopez, Christopher Grasso, Jason and Melissa Grasso and Kimberly Potts and fourteen great grandchildren; a brother Charles Sgarlata of Canastota; several nieces and nephews and a special niece Lynn Gail White. She was predeceased by eight brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be celebrated on Tuesday afternoon, May 19 at 1:30 at St. John the Baptist Church for a Mass of Christian Burial with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio as celebrant. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery.
