Theresa Gulla Sciarillo

Theresa Gulla Sciarillo, 101, of Rome and Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 in Gainesville Virginia, the home of her daughter, with her loving children at her side.

She was born on May 18, 1913 in Oneida, a daughter of Vincent and Mary Defeo Gulla. On June 26, 1935 she married James P. Sciarillo, a loving marriage of 64 years. James passed away on March 25, 1999.

She was a faithful member of St. John the Baptist Church. She graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1930.

Theresa worked at the Rome Hospital for thirty years, retiring in 1975 as the hospital administrator's secretary. She enjoyed reading, cooking, visiting with her children and grandchildren, and connecting with old friends and making new friends.

Theresa is survived by her beloved family, her daughter Lucille Connolly of Jeffersonton, Virginia; a son Joseph, and his wife Marilyn of Westerly Rhode Island; four cherished grandchildren and five great grandchildren, one niece and many nephews. She was predeceased by her husband James, her son James Sciarillo of Orange Texas, and her brothers Patrick, and Joseph Gulla and sisters Minnie Grande, Susan DelPiano and Katherine DelPiano.

Funeral services will be celebrated on Friday morning at 11:00 at St. John the Baptist Church for a Mass of Christian Burial with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo St. on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m.
