Marline "Jan" Uvanni

Marline "Jan" Uvanni, 75, of Rome, passed away on Monday, March 30, 2015, in St. Luke's Hospital, New Hartford, with her loving husband by her side.

Jan was born on July 13, 1939 in Swift, MO, a daughter of Lee and Annie Mae Carter Berryhill. She attended school in Dowagiac, MI living with her older sister Josephine. She later followed her sister Hilda to Rome where she worked for the NY Telephone Co. until 1991. She was also the district union representative for the telephone company. On September 13, 1960 she married Joseph R. Uvanni, a blessed union of 54 years.

Jan is survived by her beloved family, her husband Joseph, a daughter and son-in-law, Lee and Josh Kann of NM; two sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen and Celeste Uvanni and Marc and Pamela Uvanni all of Rome; ten grandchildren, Stefan, Andrea, Nakeesia, Christopher, Hannah, Trevor, Emma, Aidan, Tyler and Benjamin; a great-grandson Kaeden; a sister Katherine Sullivan of FL and several nieces and nephews.

She loved all types of crafts, cooking, sun, and summer sports. Her favorites were hiking and biking. She was a member of the TWIGS at Rome Hospital and always was a strong supporter of her husband Joe's involvement with his science clubs. She was a tremendous help with the Science Fair through the Rome Academy of Science and the Sun Dial Project at the new RFA. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church.

Jan's biggest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a lot of fun to be around, put others first and her selflessness showed. Her warm smile and gentleness will be missed dearly.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Lynn Marie Paquette as well as Kenny and Fran Woodhouse for their compassion and help.

Memorial services will be celebrated on Friday, April 10 at 5:30 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Church for a Mass of Christian Burial with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio as celebrant, where relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery.

In accordance with Jan's wishes, there will be no calling hours.

Contributions may be made in Jan's memory to the Rome Rescue Mission. Envelopes will be available at the church.
