Alberta M. Rossi

Alberta M. Rossi, 95, of Rome, passed away calmly and peacefully at home on March 23, 2015 with her loving family by her side.

She was born on November 15, 1919 in Rome the daughter of Patrick Sr. and Lillian Campanaro Salerno and was the eldest of their three children. She was a lifelong resident of Rome. On October 20, 1940 in St. John the Baptist Church she married Dominick L Rossi who passed away on February 21, 1990, a blessed marriage of 49 years. She graduated from Rome Free Academy and Utica Business College.

During her life, Alberta managed radio station WKAL in Rome, worked for Investors Diversified Services and later for three electronics firms with Griffiss Air Force Base contractors.

She was an avid golfer and a 30 year member of Teugega Country Club. She was also an avid bridge player, enjoyed painting and making stained glass creations. She was a Rome TWIGS member. Above all, Alberta loved spending time with her family.

Alberta is survived by her two children, Patricia Morse of Utica and Robert Rossi and his wife Robin of LaJolla, CA; four cherished grandchildren, Patricia (Patti) Teeter of Salt Lake City, UT, Robert Morse, Jr. of San Diego, CA, Cheri Rossi of Minneapolis, MN. and Shannon Rossi of Dallas, TX., one great grandson and two great-great grandsons; a brother and sister-in-law Patrick J. Jr. and Maryrose Salerno of Rome. She was predeceased by her parents, husband and a brother Richard Salerno.

Alberta's family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers who provided her with loving and gracious care over the past several months, Connie Conover, Betty Leighton, Missy Myers and Denise Francescone. We also wish to thank the nurses and staff of Hospice and Palliative Care for their graceful and supportive care during Alberta's final stages.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday morning at 11:00 at St. Paul's Church, 1807 Bedford Street with the Rev. Robert Kelly as celebrant, where relatives and friends are invited to attend.. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery.

As per Alberta's wishes, there will be no calling hours.
