Lola (Yolanda) Katherine Giambona

Lola (Yolanda) Katherine Giambona, 99, formerly of Rome, died peacefully on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 surrounded by her family. She was born on December 9, 1915 in Rome, a daughter of Luigi and Filomena Cirone Bartholomew. She was a lifelong Rome resident until 2000 when she moved to Buffalo at the age of 85 to be closer to her family. She married Nicholas Giambona on January 30, 1937.

Lola was well known in the business community as an office manager for the former Nelson's Department Store, working alongside her brother Germo Bartholomew. She is predeceased by her husband, Nicholas, in 1971, an infant son Nicholas in 1941, a brother, Germo Bartholomew and a sister Linda Colangelo.

Lola is survived by her daughter, Rosette Fortner; a son, Dominic (Laura) Giambona; a brother Louis ( Celia) Bartholomew; two grandchildren, Michelle Fortner Capizzi and Marc (Kelly) Fortner; six great grandchildren, Massimo, Benjamin, Sam, Charlie, Paige and Lucy.

Funeral services will be celebrated on Saturday morning at 10:00 at St. John the Baptist Church for a Mass of Christian Burial with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. The family will be present for visitors on Friday evening from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo St.
