Paul Joseph Campanaro,

Paul Joseph Campanaro, 68, of Rome, passed away on Thursday, November 13, 2014 in Bridgewater Center, Binghamton, NY.

He was born on May 19, 1946 in Rome the son of Joseph and Mary Bottini Campanaro. He attended Rome Public Schools. He had worked for Xtra Mart-Drake Petroleum for 16 years.

He was a member of the Roman Runners-Syracuse Chargers and St. John the Baptist Church. He enjoyed running, playing chess and one of his greatest enjoyments was visiting and playing with his great nephews and niece.

Paul is survived by his beloved family, a sister and brother-in-law, Lorraine and John Stirpe, of Rome; nieces, Lisa and her spouse Jason Evangelist, Amy Stirpe, and Carrie and her spouse Mario Scalzo; great niece Elizabeth Scalzo; great nephews, Owen and Dominic Evangelist; a niece and nephew, JoAnn (Mangino) Westfall and Michael Mangino; special cousins, Delores Bottini, Elizabeth Bottini and Kathleen and Harold Gilbert. He was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Mary Campanaro.

Private funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 4:00 at the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo St. with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio officiating. Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery.

There will be no calling hours.

Contributions may be in Paul’s memory to St. John the Baptist Church Memorial Fund.
