Catherine “Cathy” Early

Catherine “Cathy” Early, 60, of Rome, passed away unexpectedly at home on September 26, 2014.

She was born on February 15, 1954 in Rome, the daughter of Charles J. and Doris Bourgeois Cavanaugh. On July 31, 1982, in St. Peter’s Church, Rome, she married Donald Early, a blessed union of 32 years. She was a graduate of Rome Schools. She was retired as a supervisor after 38 years from DDSO of Rome. Cathy enjoyed caring for her patients and the elderly. She also enjoyed driving her motorcycle with family and friends.

Cathy is survived by her beloved family, her husband Don, and a son Charles Early of Rome; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Charlotte Fisher of Rome, Joan Tonon of Syracuse and Carol and Ron Walker of Verona; two brothers, Charles H. Cavanaugh and Kenneth Cavanaugh both of Rome; mother-in-law, Shirley Early of Rome; sister-in-law, Gail Early of Rome; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Tim and Lori Early of Indiana; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents.

Memorial services will be celebrated on Friday afternoon, October 10, at 1:00 in St. Peter’s Church with the Reverend Philip Hearn as celebrant; where relatives and friends are invited to greet the family from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Church prior to the Mass. Private interment will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery. There will be no calling hours at the funeral home.
