Mary Rose Riolo Sparace, 80, of Rome, passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2014 in Syracuse Upstate Medical Center with her loving family by her side.

She was born on December 19, 1933 in Rome, a daughter of Joseph and Concetta Magno Riolo. On April 11, 1953 in St. John the Baptist Church she married Vito C. Sparace who passed away on December 29, 2010. She attended Rome Schools and MVCC for Business Management.

Mary had worked at Goldberg’s Department Store and later at JC Penney as a fashion buyer and was awarded employee of the year and grand prize winner of the company wide Satisfaction Policy Contest. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church and Ava Dorfman Senior Center. She had a God given gift of friendliness and a smile for everyone and she loved to dance.

Mary is survived by her beloved family, she was blessed with three children and their spouses, Louis and Mindy Sparace of Centreville, VA, Carol and Sven Bushel of Riverside, CA and Victor and Lisa Sparace of Las Vegas, NV; and a caring companion Jack Skea of Rome; cherished nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Anita and John Peconi of Liverpool and Angeline Guglielmo of Rome; four brothers, Lawrence, Orlando, and John of Rome, and Fred of Las Vegas, NV; and many nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by three sisters, Nettie Faro, Isabelle Zarrelli, and Josephine Squadritto; six brothers, Vincent Riolo, Nick Riolo, Frank Riolo, Joseph Riolo, William Riolo and Armando Riolo.

Funeral services will be celebrated on Saturday morning at 9:00 at St. John the Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio as celebrant. Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo St. on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m.
